COLLECTION & DELIVERY

Do you have a shop?
We don’t currently have a shop but we do have premises from which you can collect your order/ have a cake tasting/ do a cake decorating course.

Where can I collect my cake?

Our collection point is just off the A4 (Bath Road) in Brislington at The Local Bakehouse, Church Hill, Brislington, Bristol, BS4 4LT

When can I collect my cake?

When you place your order we’ll agree on a specific time for you to collect.  Failure to collect at the designated time may mean the collection point is closed (and we don’t want you to miss out on your cake!).

When do you deliver?
For your convenience, we offer a home/work delivery service Mon – Fri from 10am to 4pm and on Sat mornings.  If you need an early or late delivery, there is a small surcharge.

Can I have a specific delivery time? 

We’ll give you a 2 hour delivery slot so you don’t have to wait in all day for your order.

Where do you deliver?
We deliver within the Bristol area.  

 

ORDERS

Can I order online?

Yes.  However, your order will only be confirmed when we’ve contacted you to confirm the order can be made.

How much notice do I need to give for a cake?  Do you offer same day collection/ delivery?

It all depends on how busy we are.  It’s always worth calling us to check and we’ll do our best to accommodate your order.  

Will I get an e-mail to confirm my order? 

Yes. Please allow time for the confirmation email to be sent through and make sure you’ve checked your junk folder.

What should I do if I don’t receive confirmation? Is my cake ordered?

Give us a quick call/e-mail to check and we’ll see what’s happened.

Can I personalise an order?

Yes! Just let us know what you’d like written on your cake/cupcakes and we’ll take care of the rest.

Can I have a printed cake topper?

Yes. However, we’ll need time to get the topper(s) printed so please make sure you give at least a week’s notice.

Can I have my business logo put onto cupcakes?

Yes. Just send over a high resolution image and make sure you give at least a week’s notice for printing.

There is an error in my order/ I’d like to change my order.  What should I do?

Please let us know as soon as you can and before you have made payment. If you notice the error after you’ve made payment then it may be too late for it to be changed. Please check the Terms & Conditions on your order for more information.

How can I cancel an order I have placed?
If you’ve not yet paid for your order then please let us know as soon as possible if it’s no longer needed.  If you’ve paid for your order then it may be too late to cancel it, although we’ll do our best to change it to a different day if that would be more convenient for you.  Please check the Terms & Conditions on your order for more information.

What’s the minimum number of cupcakes I can order?
6 cupcakes (starting at a price of £15).

How many flavours can I order in a box of cupcakes?

Can I buy a cake that’s already made?

We make each cake specially for each customer. However, if you give us enough time and can pay immediately, we may be able to make a cake or cupcakes for you in a few hours.

 

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS & FREEFROM INFORMATION

If you need your cake to be free from a particular ingredient, please make sure you specify this when you place your order.  Freefrom information can be found on our website here.

  • All our products are gluten-free and made in a gluten-free environment.

  • All products are suitable for vegetarians.

  • We only use free-range eggs.

  • We do a selection of cakes that are vegan – please check the website here for particular flavours.

  • Some of our items contain alcohol, including Baileys buttercream, Chocolate Bad Boys and both our Fruit Cakes.

  • Please note that although a product may not contain nuts, we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment.

 

MAKING PAYMENT

Can I pay with a credit card?
Yes. You can pay by credit card via e-mail – just let us know when you place your order.  However, we can’t take credit card payments over the phone.

How can I pay for an order?
Payments for orders can be made in the following ways and all details will appear on your invoice:

  • BACS (direct bank transfer)

  • PayPal

  • Credit card (via PayPal – no account needed)

  • Cheque (with a minimum of a week for the cheque to clear)

We do not accept cash on collection and all orders must be paid for before they’ll be confirmed. Please note there is a small charge for all payments taken other than BACS.

 

COURSES & EVENTS

Do you offer cake decorating courses?

Yes. Check out our COURSES page for dates and times.

I’d like to do a course but I can’t see any available dates

Pop us an e-mail to let us know what you’d like to do. We may be able to put on a course for you (especially if you’ve got others who are interested) or we can offer 1:1 private tuition.

I’d like to learn a cake decorating skill but I’m not sure whether you offer it on a course. What should I do?

Let us know what it is you’d like to learn and if we can’t offer a course, we may be able to suggest someone who can.

Do you do any teambuilding events?

Yes. We do a cupcake art teambuilding workshop – guaranteed fun to be had by all!  Click on our COURSES page here to find out more.

Do you do any events like market stalls?

We sometimes do market stalls and will advertise these online here on our EVENTS page.

Do you do wedding fayres?

I need a wedding cake really soon! Will you be able to make it for me?

If your wedding’s not during a really busy time for us then we may be able to accommodate you. The sooner you get in touch, the more likely it is we’ll be able to fulfil your order.

How can I make a complaint?

Yes.  Please visit www.facebook.com/thelocalbakehouse or @localbakehouse. We’d love to hear from you, especially if you have cake photos!

 

STORAGE & BEST BEFORE

All cakes are best eaten on the day of collection or delivery. Egg-free cakes should be eaten within 24 hours.

If you’re not eating your cake on the day of collection/delivery then these are our suggestions. Whatever you do, the cake will be best if you can store it in an air-tight container.

Special advice

Fondant/royal-iced cakes

Don’t put them in the fridge! If it’s really hot, try to keep them somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight.

Buttercream/frosting cakes

These can be kept somewhere cool or refrigerated. Make sure you take them out of the fridge in time for them to come to room temperature before eating.
